BBL and MOXI are two complementary skin treatments made by Sciton, one of the most trusted names in aesthetic lasers. Each works well on its own. Together, they treat both the color and the texture of your skin in a single visit.
BBL is an advanced form of intense pulsed light (IPL). It delivers gentle pulses of light that are absorbed by unwanted pigment and visible blood vessels. Brown spots rise to the surface and flake away, while redness and broken capillaries fade. BBL also warms the deeper layers of skin, which encourages fresh collagen for a smoother, more radiant look.
MOXI is a gentle, non-ablative fractional laser. It creates thousands of tiny treatment zones in the top layer of the skin, while leaving the surrounding skin intact. Your skin responds by renewing itself, revealing a brighter, smoother, more even surface. Because MOXI is so gentle, it's often called "prejuvenation": an easy way to start caring for your skin early and keep it looking young.
BBL targets color (sun spots, freckles, redness) and MOXI targets texture and tone (rough skin, fine lines, enlarged pores, dullness). Combined in one appointment, they deliver more complete results than either treatment alone, with the same easy recovery.
BBL and MOXI are among the most versatile treatments at our Scranton med spa. They can help with:
Sun damage and age spots — fade brown spots, freckles and sun-related discoloration
Redness and rosacea — calm facial flushing and visible broken capillaries
Uneven skin tone — even out blotchy or patchy pigment
Rough or dull texture — smooth skin and restore a healthy glow
Fine lines — soften early signs of aging
Enlarged pores — refine the look of pores for a more polished complexion
Mild melasma and hyperpigmentation — MOXI can be adjusted to gently address pigment concerns
Treatment areas include the face, neck, chest, hands, arms and other sun-exposed skin.
Visible improvement after one session, with results that build over a series
Little to no downtime, so you can get back to your day
Quick appointments that fit into a lunch break
Customizable settings for your skin type and goals
Supports long-term skin health when used for yearly maintenance
Just Aesthetic Nursing was founded by Jan Costa, BSN, RN, with one goal: to help every client look and feel their absolute best. At JAN, we make it all about you.
Nurse-led care. Your treatment is performed by licensed nurses with advanced aesthetic training, not a technician working from a script.
Personalized plans. We start with a one-on-one consultation to review your skin, history and goals before recommending BBL, MOXI or both.
Natural-looking results. Our approach is subtle and refreshed, never overdone.
Complete skin care under one roof. BBL and MOXI pair beautifully with our injectables, RF microneedling, Skinwave Hydro Facials and medical-grade skincare from Skinbetter Science, Alastin and SkinMedica.
A 5-star local reputation. Clients across Scranton and Northeastern Pennsylvania trust JAN for warm, professional care.
Convenient downtown location. Find us at 222 Linden St, Scranton, PA 18503, easy to reach from Dunmore, Clarks Summit, Wilkes-Barre and the greater Lackawanna County area.
We review your skin type, concerns, medications and sun exposure, then build a plan. We'll also share pre-treatment instructions, such as avoiding tanning and sunburn beforehand.
Your skin is cleansed and a numbing cream may be applied for comfort. BBL feels like a warm snap, and MOXI feels like gentle warmth and prickling. Most appointments take about 30 to 60 minutes.
Expect redness and a warm, sunburn-like feeling for a few hours. Many clients return to work the same or next day.
Treated brown spots darken and may look like fine coffee grounds before flaking off, usually within 5 to 7 days. Skin can feel dry or a little rough as it renews.
Skin looks brighter and more even within about a week, and texture keeps improving for several weeks as collagen builds.
Many clients see a visible difference after one treatment. For best results, we typically recommend a series of 3 to 6 sessions spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart, followed by maintenance one to two times per year. Your provider will recommend the right plan for your skin.
Use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer while your skin heals
Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily and avoid direct sun
Don't pick or scrub flaking spots; let them shed on their own
Skip retinoids and exfoliants until your provider gives the okay
See our full Pre & Post Treatment guide for details.
BBL is a type of IPL, but it's a more advanced, highly customizable version. Its filters and settings let your provider target pigment and redness more precisely than many standard IPL devices.
Most clients find both treatments very tolerable. BBL feels like a warm rubber-band snap, and MOXI feels like mild heat. We can apply numbing cream to keep you comfortable.
Very little. Expect a few hours to a day of redness, then a few days of darker spots and mild flaking. Most people return to normal activities right away.
Most clients notice brighter, more even skin within about a week. Results improve with each session as collagen builds.
MOXI can be safely customized for a wide range of skin tones. BBL works best on lighter to medium skin and is not recommended on tanned skin. During your consultation, we'll confirm which option is safest for you.
MOXI can be done year-round. BBL is ideal in fall and winter, when sun exposure is lower, but it can be done any time with strict sun protection. Avoid treatment if you have a fresh tan or sunburn.
These treatments may not be right if you're pregnant, have an active skin infection, recently used isotretinoin (Accutane), or have a fresh tan. Share your full medical history at your consultation.
Pricing depends on the treatment area and the number of sessions in your plan. Contact our Scranton office for current pricing and package options.
Yes. Many clients pair them with Botox, dermal fillers or RF microneedling for a complete rejuvenation plan. We'll help you time each treatment for the best results.
